Vintage Children's Hand Sewing Machine. 1950's. Made in USSR. Collectable.

This is an adorable vintage children's hand sewing machine in a gorgeous deep orange-red colour. It was made in the USSR in the 1950's and is very collectable. The machine produces a simple chain stitch.

This sturdy little machine is made from metal which is clean and rust-free. The base is varnished wood. There is also a little compartment to hold spare needles, thread and bobbins etc. This machine comes complete with it's needle which is in good condition. The paint has chipped off in a few places (please see photographs) and there is some tarnishing to the metal/chrome fittings.

Measurements:26 cm (10.25 inches) wide
12 cm (4.75 inches) deep
16 cm (6.25 inches) tall- not including bobbin post

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch and we will be happy to help.

  1. I have a question about this machine and I was hopong you could help me.
I recently bought the same machine in a thrift store. The problem is that even though I cleaned the whole thing inside out, for some reason the lower thread doesn't come through in the fabric. When I sew, the top thread and the needle work perfectly, but for some reason the sticht doesn't hold because the lower parts appaearently don't work. Can you give me some clues on how to solve this? Or can you maybe send me a picture of how yours looks like from underneath?

    Thanks you very much!

    1. It does sound as if something underneath isn’t working or maybe misaligned. I will remove the bottom off ours and take a few photographs and hopefully this will help. It might not be until Wednesday if you don’t mind waiting? Could you send me your email address please?
